Waldo Cerdan is an Aviation Human Factors and Safety Consultant with over 40 years of experience in the airline industry. As a former airline captain, type rating instructor and examiner, he has logged over 15,000 flight hours on aircraft ranging from the Boeing 737, the DC-10 to the Airbus A330/A340.
He holds a Master's degree in Philosophy and is a certified practitioner in neurocognitive and behavioral methods. His research focuses on resilience-building and decision-making under uncertainty in high-risk systems.
Beyond aviation, he is actively engaged in interdisciplinary work on climate risk and governance. Drawing on his experience in managing systemic crises, he explores the analogies between aviation safety protocols and the current failure to respond coherently to the climate emergency. His writing bridges cognitive systems, ethical philosophy, and the structural shortcomings of climate governance.
